New version of PRTG Network Monitor 9: Network monitoring now with IPv6 support

Network Monitor 9

Monitoring software with new Enterprise Console and extended range sensors

In the process of developing the new program version has Paessler feedback, experiences and suggestions from customers who use PRTG to incorporate in everyday work. The focus was on optimizing the adjustment to more advanced networking technologies, scalability, and especially the further simplifying the user interface.

Further simplified operation
The experts have the PRTG web interface even more intuitive and appealing. It now offers a clearer display with a flexible tree structure, new drag and drop capabilities as well as individual "libraries" with additional filtering options.

More sensors provide new monitoring capabilities
Paessler has expanded the range of sensors in PRTG further. In addition to numerous sensor types in detail improved PRTG now includes among others a roundtrip QoS sensor, Security Center WMI sensors and proprietary hardware sensors for some Dell, HP and APC equipment. To meet the current network requirements, version 9 supports the monitoring of IPv6 infrastructures. This allows the administrator to monitor the device level individually choose between IPv4 and IPv6, and thus the gradual conversion of its network from the beginning.

Installations, and manage users centrally
To increase scalability, Paessler PRTG WinGUI the well-known for 'Enterprise Console "has evolved. This makes it possible administrators to manage multiple PRTG installations and central control. Furthermore, the monitoring software can now connect to an existing Active Directory, which significantly simplifies the user management.

Automatic software updates for the Core Server
Once a new version of PRTG is available, it can be automatically downloaded and the administrator will be notified. Afterwards, the new version can be installed quickly with just two mouse clicks. The update of any existing remote probes or cluster node takes over then PRTG. The update only takes a few minutes and is available to all users, with trial, freeware or commercial license. For the latter an active maintenance contract is required.

The new features include:
- Redesign of the entire web interface e.g.
- High-performance and intuitive
- Individual Libraries
- Fast manual sensor type selection (three-click dialogue)
- Multi-Edit function for sensor channel settings
- "Enterprise Console"
- Support for IPv6 networks
- New sensor types, e.g. one roundtrip QoS sensor, sensor Windows registry or vendor-specific hardware sensors
- Improved Cluster Functions
- Automatic software updates
- User management through Active Directory integration
