The basis of the Competence Center collected over many years and methods of domain experience is Safety & Systems Engineers, Berner & Mattner. Critical to the effective implementation of safety-critical product development is the know-how in the field of security analysis, preparation of technical security concepts, the modeling of security measures and the verification and validation of safety-critical systems. The team of experts from the fields of systems engineering and functional safety also helps in overcoming the difficulties in understanding. This includes the coordination between the disciplines of hardware and software, OEM and suppliers, product developers and security analysts. The nationally networked Safety & Systems team has already completed several series projects for major automotive manufacturers and suppliers successfully.
"Functional safety is seen by many as merely a collection of additional process activities," says Dr.-Ing. Bernhard Kaiser, head of the Competence Center. "This approach, in my view, however, too short, because of the complexity of modern systems, eg in the area of driver assistance or e-mobility, feasible and economical solutions to meet the safety requirements can be found only in a team of experienced professional engineers. The engineers have to ensure both understand how the system as well as a cross-sectional view of the interaction of all components have - Functional safety is an engineering discipline. "
